The Very Latest Update

I just got off the phone with Alan (AKA Dr. Rieck). He wanted you all to know that the girls who had not been feeling well are feeling much better today. They will board their flight around 9:00 CDT and arrive at Dulles around 5:00 AM CDT tomorrow morning where they will go through customs and catch their flights back to Minneapolis.

I'm sure we can all say that we've appreciated their journey and loved the stories, but it will be good to know that they are all safely back in the good old U.S.A.

The plan is that the blog will continue with more stories once the girls are all safely back home. They have promised photos as well. Plan to stay and hear them.

Our thoughts are with you today and tomorrow as you make your way back to us--your families and friends. We can't wait to get our arms around you and hear from you about the perspectives you've gained. What an opportunity and what a lifetime you've lived in just 8 short days!

In one respect, I'm appreciative that technology didn't permit you to send pictures: we (and you) were forced to rely on written descriptions of sights seen and thoughts thunk (!), using our imaginations to fill in the blanks. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a thousand words can add depths of meaning not visible in pictures. (We ARE still looking forward to seeing the pictures, however : - )

Thank you, Dr. Rieck, for your time and energy expended to make this trip possible for these young women. Thanks also to the Nurse-Moms Cheryl and Susan for your good care, and to Kristin Rieck for sharing your experiences and time with Woco.

Blessings to all of you winging home from South African skies.
